“Usage note: As a noun and adverb, a lot is frequently misspelled as alot.”
I don’t think you’ll find any English teachers that consider “alot” acceptable, let alone proper, but if you consider it slang then I guess it is.
Speaking of slang, “Boot” is short for Boot Camp, the initial training camps for US military. I’m not sure of the derivation – maybe because you get issued your first boots there? Or maybe because if you really mess up, you can be booted out. Soldiers can be called boots, as in, “we need more boots on the ground if we’re gonna win this war.” So, probably that.
then to all english teachers reading my comic, sorry for all the spelling and slang. but to be fair, i just drew during all my classes. that i’m literate at all is a bit of shock.
as for boot, i figured it was more along the lines of ‘got out of dodge’. that’s the problem with slang. there’s a colloquial aspect to it.
Another explanation might be that trainees become so accustomed to polishing their boots on a regular basis that, anecdotally, it begins to seem like basic training is just one long experience having to do with not much more than keeping your boots well-maintained.
So, I have been reading since issue 23, and man, this has been a fantastic ride. Got out of boot a few weeks ago, and coming back to a whole slew new pages has made my week. Keep up the great work, dude.
i think there’s several different takes on how technology will improve body modification. i think so far, it’s pretty clear we’re steering towards the superficial, in real life. but i like the idea that in a more desperate future, people might shed the idea that you could lose a body part, replace it, and no one would be the wiser. or that the average person would cut into themselves to fix a large nose, or small breasts, just to fit some image issue.
His mouth has got to be dry.
a lot
a lot what? haha, oddest comment yet…
I found a typo, it’s not “alot”, it’s “a lot” but I tried not to be a jerk about it while still drawing attention to it. I’m an idiot. :D
alot is acceptable, even if not as proper. i use and reuse ALOT of slang too. so, we have to be a little permissive.

Huh, that side-view in the first panel makes Angel look angry!
And yeah, those doctors can do some impressive work!
haha, just the angle on the angel. he’s not capable of as much expression. no jaw.
Yeah, I’m not seeing much (if any) facial movement either!
Hell of a poker-face though. XD
but the cost….. a pair of sunglasses would suffice. and you could still chew your food.

“…just…not so much cosmetically, yet.”
Dat ain’t true, Angel! Why, you look as handsome as ever…(compared to…I dunno).
…compared to the painting behind him?
