And hope you’re still well. I got the 1st Pfizer shot Sunday before last. A lot of the side effects too. Means it’s working. How is Canada handling them? Just asking for a friend, lol
BLAM! first time i’ve been vindicated on a spelling mistake. well, maybe not vindicated, more like halfheartedly let off the hook on a technicality. but i’ll take it! maybe it’s a canadian thing. we have slightly different spellings than americans and brits on an almost random basis.
that’s excellent! glad to hear people coming out, getting their jabs, and boldly returning to normal life. we are just starting our phase 2 in ontario, where older people, people who can’t work from home, and people with health risks are up for vaccination. the rest of us randos aren’t up till stage 3, and that’s not till july i think. but we’re all looking forward to it.
I looked it up too. Figured it might be an alternate acceptable in those other parts of the world (where ppl do seem to care, tbh. The US is becoming VERY lazy in this last decade. Like using verbs as nouns (and vice versa), adjectives with no subjects, that kind of thing.)
And all in an age where it’s proclaimed “WORDS MATTER!” , which they absolutely do. Yet, it seems the only words that matter are spoken by those who are making them mean something entirely different from any previous dictionary definition.
It’s no wonder ppl are confused.
You may already know: every state is doing the vax entirely different. And changing ~that almost daily. In my state, you must make an appointment using one “tool”, yet when you get the first shot, before you can even leave, you’re forced to make the appointment for the second shot using an entirely different account. Which they make you do, ~even if you already have that account~. You end up with cross purposed accounts that you get constant messages from (about absolutely nothing) after. And can’t delete until you get that second vac. (Because they’ll call you. )
I went over it in detail today, applying logic. The only way it worked was assuming it was about money apportioned from the federal government.
Oh. And the account they made me get thinks I’m someone else, because another name comes up, with meds I’ve never taken or even heard of before.
I’m deleting the darned thing as soon as I’ve gotten that second shot.
well, language evolves. especially english, and i would suspect that that’s been ramping up quite a bit as technology makes the world seem smaller. i think there’s always been people who would try to pull the brakes, and have english remain some sacred unchangeable uniform tool of expression, but that’s not realistic. heck, i think colour has a U in it. you can’t reason with someone like that!
i’ve noticed that about the states. they all seem to like doing things their own way. maybe expecting them all to do things ‘exactly’ the same is like expecting words to mean the same thing no matter the place to context, but if you’re doing things weird just to be weird, that’s not usually going to have a positive outcome. i think this might be part of the reason you have so many people who want to see smaller government, expecting that this kind of bureaucracy is a result of too much government, and not a purpose driven governance. at least you’re getting your shots soon! lucky ducky.
You’re right about both the language and the incentives. You write just about the time the Feds stopped fining places for not using all their shots and all that.
But 100 years from now, people will wonder more about silliness with pronouns and the use of the adverb “hopefully” as some sort of bastardized contraction for “one hopes”, “I hope”, “it is to be hoped”, or even “if I were a good person I would be hoping”.
Yes, I love English. You can noun a verb, and verb a noun.
camaraderie? Unless you’re using a queen’s English version, lol
I’ve been waiting for your update. My damn page didn’t update. Geez. These computer things, just can’t count on them!

It’s fun living in a dysfunctional society.

Yeah, that’s a common misperception.. or whatever you call it.
I could give examples.
But this will work.
I das y wirc.
