WOW.
ok, first off, huge shout out to the new patrons and donors to Black and Blue. HUGE. it was a great week for growth on the patreon, and i had a little pep in my step all week, so thanks guys. glad to have you on board, and i will try to upload more patron only content.
the other thing is, that now with the extra patrons, my first goal that i set modestly, way back in the day is within arm’s reach. so, who knows. maybe sooner than later. when we hit that goal, i plan to produce and release a short for just the patrons, and anyone who’s even donated in the past. not trying to exclude anyone on a technicality here. AND, i am determined to not let that interrupt the regular B&B updates. haven’t missed a week yet. it’s a personal point of pride for me, and i intend to keep up the streak.
i don’t know what my next goal would even be, but people seem to have ideas on a B&B video game. no issues there, total breeze. haha, actually, i did have ideas of what a black and blue card/board game would look like, but nothing ever gelled in my head as to what that would look like. i kinda wanted to do an version of ‘coup’ with my characters, just for fun, but i’d rather do something original. but coup is a perfect small card game. it cries out for artistic redesign. which is probably why there’s so many version of it. how about monopoly? go directly to the ochre river, do not pass go, do not collect 200 gold. now you’re dead.
Glad to hear you’re getting more Patreon supporters. I’ll be back on there soon myself.
A B&B card game is an interesting idea. I know I got the game pot stirring with video games, but there are a lot of really good card games where the scenario is randomly generated as well. You should look over Arkham Horror, Eldritch Horror, Flex, Mansions of Madness, and Munchkin if you want an idea on how cards and/or a an accompanying board game can worldbuild.
That can also translate to a video game. There’s a game called WORLD OF HORROR that is literally a card-based world game that is a video game.
Congrats again on your success!
yeah, thanks! it was a good week! love seeing new people come out. makes it all worthwhile.
honestly, the pot was stirring before this. i’ve always wanted to do a board/card game, even before the comic. in fact, i started pushing forward with the comic cause my collaborative efforts with other artists to do games weren’t moving forward, and i hated feeling as though i was waiting on people to get serious. so, i dropped it, and forged my own path.
i love arkham horror! and munchkin. so much fun. some of the others i’m aware of, but never played. but they’re all full great ideas. maybe one day, time permitting. but it’s in the back of my brain, festering….. who knows? maybe i’ll make it the next patreon goal. for like…. down the line.
Wonderful stuff Mr Clarke! I’ve finally caught up after carefully rationing the last 12months to make it last!
If Covid kills me the worst thing will be not seeing what happens in the end!
wow, well, don’t get covid, #1, and #2, thanks! that’s a pretty decent compliment! i’m glad i have such engaged readers! but the end is still a ways off, so try to survive the next pandemic too, just to be safe.
Almost got the right link there, Mark, just had to substitute ‘vote’ for ‘twcout’ as the latter causes a redirect to here.
Saved me from having to find the link via a search though! https://www.topwebcomics.com/vote/18684
ah, it’s the thought that counts. i appreciate you guys figuring it out!
That link just keeps looping me back to this comic. Am I dumb? I’ll find it though…
fwiw, twc voting link is https://www.topwebcomics.com/twcout/18684
yeah! let’s get this popularity contest swinging our way!
haha, kidding, but thanks to everyone who votes for B&B. means a lot. OR, if you get a sec, share the comic with someone who might dig it. every little bit helps!
If you cop out with a Monopoly clone I swear I’ll stop reading. Under this name. That you know of. So glad you are getting some love though!
haha, well, i think monopoly has been done to death, and i don’t want to put so much work into something no one wants, and no one needs.
and thanks! yeah, we saw a bit of an uptick. hopefully it carries on, but either way, it’s a nice little boost.
