Oh my, it’s Yzma’s many-greats grand-descendant!
And she rules a roost, too! Yzma would be proud!
She looks almost more disgusted than annoyed, still fits!
haha, there’s similarities to be sure. then again, i never saw it. but i saw every other lanky evil disney villlianess, and to some extent, they’re all interchangeable.
It’s a fun romp with many quotable lines, but I’m not arrogant enough to think everyone should enjoy what I do, so I leave the option of seeing it up to you!
And yes, villains can tend to blur together, though there are always exceptions! Don’t have an example handy currently though.
i know what you mean. we tend to fall back on tropes, and i’m not judging, clearly i do. i think the goal is to bring something new, if you can. some dont’ bother, cause it’s safe. but you gotta try.
Trying is what keeps things interesting! Besides, there are always ways to twist tropes, turn them back on themselves, or subvert them! Then there are the times a trope used as-is has the most impact. After all, everything in the universe comes from the same ingredients, but it’s the combinations that make things unique!
The kicker is that _this_ Evil Villain is voiced by Eartha Kitt. And boy does she chew the scenery :-) Plus her hapless henchman is Patrick Warburton. Everything about the show is fairly pedestrian except when these two are interacting — two old voice pros doing their best to be Eeeeeeeeeeeevilllll (and not crack up laughing). They’re the whole show.
yup. i’m glad you guys caught that. well, i’m assuming. wow, that was like….2 years ago…. man, time… does not fly. but i would say my drawing has improved, or at least changed. and that’s an issue for a long running project like this.
i cover this all in my new book ‘bear with me, this is gonna turn into something, i promise’. now on sale nowhere.
Truth be told, when she appeared back in 81, I thought she was black, since Harold’s screen was kinda dark, I guess. But she had that reeeealy distinct mouth with all those angry angles, which made her easily recognizable now.
Also, the daughter she talks about. Kinda the point of the whole story.
haha, well, that was a style decision on my part. i thought the harsh angled mouth would sell it though. glad that worked. and yeah, some of the holes are filling in. 2 years later…. crazy.
