And so…. so far the only first person speaker in the cast now has a speaker for speaking! Well, perhaps more accurate = only first person thinker: we got to read his thoughts, make those words speak in our heads. And in that the first person thinker/speaker traditionally is the hero of the saga, Owen is now resuming his hero’s journey…?? Will he respond in kind?? Become as bad as his enemies?? Only his creator knows, perhaps even for sure, one weekly reveal at a time for us, making Monday worth looking forward to.
And a tip of the hat is due in your general direction Jason, one of the very few consistently on time online comics!
kidding, but thanks for saying so. i’m glad i can brighten a few mondays, and i’m also proud of never having missed an update.
and yeah, you’re right, he’s the only one with a narration voice, but i thought it was important to establish, what with him losing his ability to chat, the way he did.
Comments like that are why Owen’s vocal cords have been replaced by a voicebox switched to off. ;p
It’s also how more Shadowrunners end up with terminal lead poisoning.
Shadowrun is a tabletop rpg set in a cyberpunk dystopia only marginally friendlier than Black and Blue. Players are “runners”, deniable mercenaries hired to partake in illegal and dangerous missions ranging from espionage, extraction, kidnapping, data theft and arson. They are often (but not always) lacking in the proper creditionals to join “normal” society, criminals, gangers, or worse. Normal society has seen the collapse of most proper governments and instead most places are run by Mega-Corporations who enjoy the rights to claim property and have their own private armies. It is a setting not dissimilar to that of Black and Blue in style, tone and subject matter, though Black and Blue still has your unique storytelling style and its own charms. I actually figured you had taken inspiration from Shadowrun and another game similar to it, Cyberpunk, when I originally found your comic.
well, i definitely know of cyberpunk. and thanks. i try to bring my own unique ‘thing’ to my story. part of what i enjoy most is the world building. it would be easy to just lean on other worlds to get the story moving, but then you give up a chance to do your own thing, and have your own flavour. and why give that up? that’s like half the fun! but all creators do it, to some extent, i suppose.

Now you should see if the docs can do something about your “resting bitch face.”
haha, in the future you can get a fake arm, but a bitchectomy is beyond medical science.
Awwwww…….Bing got voice-neutered……
different character. the one you call Bing is Gibson. this is Owen, the courier.
….Oh, heck…….Maybe Owen is Gibson’s illegitimate clone?…….. (More likely I just can’t see straight.)
haha, it’s unlikely. but there’s something to the things you say…. stay tuned!
