“You’ve had a bad day.” That line really stuck with me; it’s what I remember most from this page.
Gibson handled this with a lot more composure than I ever could. (I sure hope I’m never in a situation remotely resembling this. I think I’ll stick with software development and not try working for gangsters in a dystopian future.)
Thanks! =D I just felt like recapping it for myself, thought I might as well post it down here.
The story is indeed a bit convoluted, but I like it that way. Way more fun when the story actually demands that the reader goes out and connects the dots himself. You’re also pretty good with bit-by-bit story reveals that slowly tie in together, so yeah, keep up the good work!
SLOWLY is the key word there. but, when it’s all done, in like a decade, there’ll be enough there to show how things early on set up things later. i maybe should have kept it from getting this big, but, it kept opening up to get that ‘big feel’. can’t turn back now!
So. To recap The Amazing Gibson Scheme and how it worked out.
Daughter, an engineer, runs away from Mother to work with Mentor.
Her Mentor wants to strike a deal with Boss Ari for a megaweapon. Ari sends Gibson to negotiate.
Gibson wants to secretly create a convoluted scheme, where he ships off Mentor to Angel (via Ivar, Angel’s mook), so that Mentor creates high-tech parts for Angel, who sells them to the Tech Tree, who then sell those parts to Boss Ari.
But Daughter makes it look like she killed Mentor, so she gets kidnapped and pulled into this scheme instead, creating all kinds of tension – with Mother in particular. Probably because Ivar spilled the beans to her and she actually listened to him.
And now that Daughter got herself killed and shit hit the fan hard, Gibson is trying to run damage control.
that’s…… exactly what’s happening! wow. i’m shocked how concise that is. being concise, as you might be able to tell is not my strong suit. haha
but i’m very gratified that some people are following the plot this closely, and this well. probably not everyone, but i think this story isn’t really going to be for everyone.
very good recap! i should repost this for anyone who feels lost at this point, thanks!
I have a hard time following alll of the plot / character art sometimes, but I absolutely love the way you tell this story, the character interactions, and the world building. Absolutely keep doing what you’re doing. It’s awesome.
well, glad you’re entertained, if even sometimes not following everything. i think i’m trying to give people a dose of fun and snark that’s what they want, and if they want to deep dive on the story, that’s there too. thanks for reading!

you can do software development for gangsters in a dystopian future? best of bother worlds. haha

Thanks so much for the concise recap!
