Just curious. Not sure if this is a spoiler, but let’s say that crazy lazy was able to get the head back now, and use it. How much would still be functioning? The head is clearly very well underway with decomposing, and I actually researched this (lol) for the the comic. Apparently the brain decays very quickly and dies completely with minutes with no chance of revival. So how is the head still useable? As in how much still “works?”
Ever read “10 Minutes 38 Seconds”? It’s based on how long the brain has measureable brain waves after death.
I figure that’s when we all think we see heaven, maybe even live another eternity… in those minutes. And imagine getting offed by a guillotine… it was recorded that some of the ppl who died blinked eyes, etc. Random nerve twitches? Maybe. But there is that brain wave study (or whatever you’d call it)
Talk about morbid. Imagine I have the job of testing a brain for that, and telling my mom what my job is. 😂
i never read that, but i have heard the concept before. how the ‘bright light’ people think they see when they they think they are dying is just your brain shutting down. which makes sense, really. i mean we want to think some big thing is happening, and maybe it is, but first your cpu is overloaded with sys errors.
but i’m not sure researching that will tell us anything. and even if it did, there would be a lot of people who would refuse to believe it wasn’t some sort of magic. people like to believe the happy lies over the sad truth.
As many people see and usually feel the other “bright light” as see the good one. In these days of “nice” Christianity and Judaism and spirituality, they’re not encouraged to share, so it’s discussed less than the white light and good vibes.
Also, see madame guillotine and reacting faces.
what do you mean, ‘the other bright light’? is that to say people see hell? not sure what you meant, but i could see stories like that not getting traction. we want to expect positivity, despite what we’re told.
i don’t think the guillotine is all that inhumane. i mean, i personally don’t go in for capital punishment. never have. BUT, if you’re gonna do it, accept the fact that there’s not humane way to do it. poison, firing squad, hanging… all these things are just there to provide a little ceremony to make people feel a removed from the act. walk a guy up a pyramid and stab him in the heart, if you want. doesn’t change what you’re doing. so, chopping a head off? seems pretty swift. i think it’s the drop into the basket people don’t like…..
i don’t think the guillotine is all that inhumane.
Ironic that you phrased it just so. The guillotine was invented as a more-humane way to execute someone. Suppose the executioner messes up his axe or sword strike and just wounds the prisoner, needs to take several more whacks to finish the execution? More humane to use a device that is guaranteed to work!
I have mixed feelings about the death penalty. If the criminal justice system never made mistakes, I’d be happier about it. Death is something you can’t undo if it turns out that the accused was innocent all along. But there are some people who I believe have done things monstrous enough to merit the death penalty.
And there’s some people within the story of this comic, where I wouldn’t mind if they got in the path of a bullet.
i wonder if it was to be more humane, or if it was to seem disassociated with the act. as though pulling a rope was somehow more classy, and civilized than actually swinging the blade. hanging a person is not all that humane, especially if you don’t do it right, but it takes a lot longer to build a gallows than it takes to cock a gun. people went to all that effort, using time and material just to build a trap door and a raised floor. in my humble opinion, it’s just to seem better than the person you’re killing. as thought he act of doing it ‘correctly’ infers upon you some moral authority.
like i said, i’m not a fan of the death penalty. maybe some people deserve it more than others, but i think putting on a big show with a special machine that does the actual deed is just fooling oneself into thinking that what they are doing is just and civilized.
yean, i don’t do spoilers. but you’re not the first person to put out that concern. but yeah, i know how long a head would last. guess you gotta keep reading, and have faith i know what i’m doin!
NOW that I’ve seen the 3 Body Problem series (first year of…), I have questions…

I have faith, no worries. Also, I intend to keep reading!
you better! i can’t afford to lose any more regular readers!
Also:
“Hello!! It’s been a long time since we’ve seen you! How have you been?!”
ah… you know…. i’m a head in a canister…. not great.
“So how are you holding up?” “Because I’m a POTATO.”
hah! classic. love that game.
It’s amazing how some ppl will play with their food, under ~any circumstance. 😁
*definitely* seen better days.
it would be a hard day to top for worst day ever.
