I would shop around before settling on Disqus. It is a bit heavy in the webprocessing which means it won’t work well, or will cause latency in mobile phone and underpowered browsers.
edit: i was confused when i thought disqus was the out-of-the-box option. truth be told, looking into it, i`m fine with the comment system the way it is. now, back to drawing! (cause i assume that`s what people are here for, and not my witty repartee….)
Haha, I’m enjoying both your spectacular comic and entertaining comments. :) I agree with mpsingleton, they really provided the words I couldn’t craft for this. You’re comic’s simplicity is so…I..don’t want to say fresh -_o exactly but…not many can pull off such a strong story and pack so much into so few pannels and I ADORE when creators can. The pacing is great I’m loving it so much and the art was what attracted my attention from an ad on Top Webcomics. :) Looking forward to catching up on this and keeping up with it.
thanks! pacing is a challenge. i’m just happy it’s landing with as many people as it is. i think it’s getting better over time, but it ain’t getting easier. ah well, nothing worthwhile comes easy. thanks for reading!
just gotta say, this comic is absolutely incredible. The art’s terrific, but what really impresses me is your scripting and pacing. It’s amazing to me how much story, character, and twists and turns you’re packing into such a small number of panels, without sacrificing atmosphere or characterization. It’s rare to see someone do so much with so little.
wow, thanks! who needs quantity comments when you get the quality ones I get?
I’m having fun doing it, and I think it’s getting tighter day by day. glad you’re enjoying it!
Damn. That’s cold. Still loving the comic (and the movie recommendations), but why isn’t anyone leaving comments?! Ever considered switching to Disqus? That seems to be the goto for most webcomics. Keep up the great story!
Glad you’re liking the movie picks. Not sure I’ve heard of Disqus before…. is that a comic hosting service? still enjoying being self hosted for now.
As for the comments, who knows. But comments ain’t views, and views ain’t cash. But I think I have a growing readership, they’re just not all chatty about it, and that’s fine. thanks for saying so though!
Best I can tell Disqus is just a comment system. You sign up once and it will email you if someone replies to you. People seem to have longer debates about plot and whatnot on sites that use it. But like you say, the comments aren’t so important. I hope you are getting the views you deserve. You’re the grittiest, darkest game out there right now.
thanks! that’s what I’m going for, and if at least a few people are into it, then it’s time well spent. and, if not I’ll just get bitter and resentful, and the comic will get even darker. so, either way it’s a win.
And yes, I’ve shared it many times. Sadly, few ppl really get the darkness part. They like fluffy bunnies (no teeth), Sweetness and Light, Disney (🤮), plastic family themes..
Me? Even as a 7 yr old, I preferred the Grimm fairy tales, with women being punished for being bad, in barrels studded with nails, etc. (Hmm. Those tales ~were mostly about punishing women.. I don’t remember much about punishing men. I need to go reread some of those..)
Anyway, even as a kid, I preferred the dark sticky stuff, not rainbows and kittens…

Otherwise Disqus is very feature rich. NPR (National Public Radio) uses Disqus (“dis-cuss”).

Darker is always a good thing n_n
So. Wow.
I’ve been reading this comic for EIGHT YEARS now.

Do you market this as horror?
Looks kinda warm to me…
