So if I am reading right, the implication is this isn’t Angel’s body, but someone plugged him into it while he was unconscious following the explosion? He’s basically a brain locked inside a semi-mobile prison. That’s an angle I never even considered.
If the Queen In The Sky did it, let me just applaud the thoroughness of her revenge. Overkill isn’t just something you do. Overkill is a lifestyle.
well, he is a brain locked in a prison, but no moreso than any of us are. what he’s refering to, is who set off the chain of event, where he was ‘sploded. either way, it is over kill.
Oh, I totally misread the context of, “Someone who looks like you” and interpreted the result as “You got transplanted inside a horror show based on what you looked like instead of killed” rather than “Your twin set this mess off while impersonating you.”
oh, i never really considered the ‘impersonating you’ thing…. that might have been interesting, but no. he’s referring to the clones, assuming they are of him, when they may actually be clones of his brother.
sorry for the confusion, but if it helps at all, the characters are confused too.
The funny thing is, everything it could have meant (including the right thing) is still an interesting turn. This has been one of the more fun stories to try to figure out. I’ve been intentionally avoiding speculating in the comics on where it takes place. It’s hard not to! With all the detail you’ve put in these seven years I’ve been reading, I’ve never seen stars, a moon, the sun, clouds (besides smoke/exhaust), or even a day/night cycle (or at least a 24 hour cycle).
Are you a fan of Philip K. Dick? I am. I’ve been having a field day with trying to guess the setting since that “ice cream scoop street” scene from a few pages ago.
god, has it been 7 years? jeez…… so much more to go. strap in kids, this is going to take a while.
no stars or moon? wild. maybe it’s just an oversight? haha. but i don’t know what you mean by ice cream scoop street. i mean, you can speculate all you like. i won’t say, but you might never get the answers to all your questions. i hope the ones you do get will be satisfying though. i guess we’ll find out together! really glad to hear you’re having fun guessing though. world building is a lot of fun, but you never know if it’s landing well with the audience.
and yeah, i like phillip k dick. i mean, more for his bladerunner stuff of course. i tried to get through neuromancer, but it’s more of a slog than bladerunner.
The “ice cream scoop” was just how I commented the street looked when Alice first arrived in 510 panel 2. I couldn’t think of another way to describe the devestation.
Neuromancer was William Gibson, but PKD does have a few slogs (cough Lies, Inc cough). If you’re looking for something of PKD’s that jumps into what’s happening (and making you ask “WTF is happening?!?”) almost immediately, grab A Maze of Death. Don’t read anything about the book, just get the book.
If you’d like that action and WTF level with a constant, oppressive tone that makes you feel emotionally like you’re being smothered to death get Ubik. Don’t read anything about this one either.
Though, if you prefer WTF Lite but in a book that is literally a giant Zen riddle on morality, set in one of the most realistic depictions of an American police state ever, grab Flow My Tears the Police Man Said. It doesn’t have as much action as the other books, but the plot is constantly moving forward at a reasonable pace. Continue not reading things *about* PKD books with this one too.

Ugh. I meant “speculating in the comments” not “comics. Damn you, treacherous fingers, for making me type idiocies!
haha, no worries. i make the odd typo here and there too. obviously.

He looks like a ghast, too.
be nice, he’s had a rough…. few years.
I love the suddenly appropriate shocked face!
I guess if you don’t have a jaw, you always look a little aghast.
