Every one of those puns is a new crime against language worse than the last. However, as a Patreon member, I’ve already gotten to see that “End Starve Nation” isn’t the worst one. (Subscribe today!)
What kind of crimes? FEDeral crimes. Ugh. I just threw up a little in my throat. Look what you made me do.
…
Okay, fine, here are a few more you made me think of…
“Punch dough, not down”
“No toil for boil”
“We’re Screaming For Ice Cream”
“Pop Corn Not Caps”
“We Mourn For Corn”
“Unpause bear claws”
“Punish Cereal Killers”
(I do hope you know I’m being hyperbolic for humor’s sake. “Chop The Tree” and “End Techno Pression” are pretty good, and I know the rest are awful on purpose.)
That is a fair take, but I’d argue mean spirited falls outside light ribbing. There are plenty who’ll take a shot at someone then say can’t you take a joke. Those people are best left to Unger
haha, yeah, you’re right, and you did say ‘light ribbing’. but yeah, if you can dish it out, and not take it, then you should be the dish. it’s a fair punishment.
I agree. It is better even than “Workers of the World … Work!” (Karl Marx’s fans must never have known weight lifters with their labour theory of value. Weight lifters work very, very hard, but they don’t earn enough to live off of their weightlifting in all but the rarest cases. Well, an in socialist countries that decide haiving interntionally competitive weightlifters is a key compneny of the people’s happiness.) However, “Lysdexicsof the world, Untie! …. Spoo.” isn’t bad either.
i had a friend who would go to protests with a sign like that. so, i just thought this was a funny little inside joke. never thought anyone would notice. haha
sure, but i think, and this is just my take here, times like this call for comedy that takes a few shots inward. or at least upward. i think some of the funniest people know how to take a few lumps themselves. shows humility. there’s too many mean spirited laughter when times are rough. but that’s just my 2 cents.
“Down with this sort of thing” is the most famous placard in Ireland, from the 90’s sitcom Father Ted, which is a sort of national treasure. A bit dated but very funny – worth checking out if you get the chance.

how dare you sir! i crafted each one of those puns on a loom of pure genius! or whatver.
yeah, they were bad on purpose, but i feel like people who are doing protest signs work within that framework. ‘how can i get seen, and remembered….?’
unpause the bear claws was good. we don’t have those here. what are they like, crullers?

He wanted to know the obvious. He got the obvious, and then complained about it. Maybe he’s the one who needs another core.
Maybe we will see the battle of the Mix Master vs the Tech Tree.
what do they say about asking stupid questions? i guess he gets what he gets.
Agreed! That sign is the best!
I love the “Down w/ this sort of thing” sign. It may be my favorite protest sign ever

I have considered going to one with “End Road Work”.
Things are too grim these days for such follies, I suppose.
depends on the type of grievance that people are protesting, i suppose. these days though, maybe not the time for light ribbing.
I’ll make the case it’s the best time for light ribbing. We need to bring a little more pleasure into this world

oh is it? haha, that’s funny. honestly, i just couldn’t think of another line, so i pulled that out of my memory.
