Ballots in the Box!
so, last week i mentioned that i would do a draw to design a character for an upcoming scene. a vague description, robot or human, your call. so far, not a lot of takers, which means chances are good, that if you take part, it’ll fall on you. all you have to do is comment that you’re in, and that that. next week, i’ll pull a name out of a hat, and we’re off to the races!
by the by, i can’t remember who it was that recommended the game ‘subsurface circular’ to me, but thanks! i put it away for ages, and almost forgot about it. on a larf, i booted it up a week ago, and gave it a fair try. i don’t know why i didn’t stick with it when i first installed it, but i think it’s a game well worth your time. it’s like a buck on steam right now, and while it’s short, it has some interesting conversational puzzles. thanks again to whomever turned me onto it in the first place!
well, here we go with a new scene. wheeee…….
Still in, tho years late, for a side character (or whatever you’re calling it). Cyber dog, small, yippy. Lol
Hats hats hats! And I can totally sympathize with needing a buffer between oneself and society. I have several therapy humans for this purpose. My young son used to hold my arm as I walked through stores and whenever someone got too close he’d squeeze my arm and say “no stabbing.”
wow. that is…. dark? cute? i can’t tell…
I’d say it’s cute as a statement, but dark as a question.
I could throw my hat in the ring but I don’t know if this world has anyone that gets as old as I am.
boss ari is ancient. the queen is, well, no spoilers.
anyways, it doesn’t have to be YOU. it can be something you describe, or someone. it’s easy peasy, light and airy.
First time poster, long-time reader. Well, okay, I just stumbled across this a few days and binged all 549 pages in a couple bursts — it *felt* like a long time as I couldn’t rip through it fast enough. It took me a little while to get into your style, but it’s perfect for the story and I’m all-in now. Incredible ambience, great dialog, complex plot, this hits all my buttons. And count me in for the character drawing — I hope I live long enough to see this through to the end!
thanks so much! i love hearing that someone binged the comic! and yeah, i get that my style isn’t for everyone. and it changes over time, so there’s that too. i experiment a little too much for some people’s tastes i imagine.
you’re in the draw now, and happy to hear i got a new reader!
Oh no! Gosh. I didn’t even consider that. X_X the monthly joy.
And yes! I’m in too!
Oh! That was me! Subsurface Circular is a favorite of mine and I always suggest it to sci-fi robot fans. Kind of a post-asimovian kind of thing. I wonder what choice you went with in the end? The drama of those static filled displays during that last conversation! I love the intimate setting of the train.
Bithell has another visual novel style game out called Quarantine Circular, but frankly I didn’t enjoy it as much. Biased more towards robots than aliens. And I really enjoyed how Subsurface was a completely non-human viewpoint on pretty much everything while being inextricably linked to human problems.
I feel like I wouldn’t last in your setting but I love to see what you come up with so I’d be down to try!
yeah, i mean, for what it costs, you get a pretty good story, some interesting puzzles, and a cute aesthetic. i’m surprised i didn’t hear more about it. thanks again!
you’ll be added to the draw!
Oh, my bad! I’m in!!! ^^ I will pass the message on to another who is sure to join in to!
turns out you won! check your spam folder!
Does that mean he gets to deal with the wonders of a monthly cycle?
um…. i guess?
