Sorry for commenting on an older page, but I am rereading the comic over again for a third time. ;P I am curious, is he covering his drink with his hand on purpose like he is afraid that Harold is going to slip him some poison?
third time? that might be some sort of record! i’m glad to hear you dig it so much.
i’ve tried to do some subtle things, here and there, but that’s not one of them. no, when i did that panel, i drew it that way like he had just placed his hand out to covet his shot, like he was about to drag it over to him next. i think the body language just made sense to me, but you’re right, it does seem casually distrustful. sometimes little cues like that stand out even if i wasn’t consciously aware of them at the time. but it certainly does read that way…. thanks for asking!
JC: I found out about your comic via The Whiteboard, Doc recommended it, and have been avid ever since. There has not been a character you’ve presented I didn’t want to know more about. I have the link set to this page, start here each time. Harold the Herald is brilliant… sometimes it seems like this scene is just a few blocks over from where Deckard is hunting replicants, other times its from the trailer of the movie version of Black and Blue. Death as a strategy to skip ahead in time… or drop out of current time…. so many well planned themes you’ve entwined into a world you just dropped us into! Really dude, you have something very exceptional going on here, keep it up! jkj
wow, thanks! glad i got you hooked! it’s funny you say that, cause i was recently writing about ‘a world where details draw you in, but don’t always explain everything’. when i wrote that, i was totally thinking about blade runner. that movie did that SO well, i was mad at it for ending and not letting me be in that world for more than just one story. i see it now as excellent build up, but as a kid i was frustrated.
thanks for reading, i’ll do my best to keep doin what i’m doin!

Of coarse not. That’s your department…………..
don’t worry, that’ll be addressed, guys. we don’t need depictions of large machines operating themselves drunk.
I was wondering how he was gonna drink it, as well.
Now that’s not something you see very often…A boob-tube wearing a suit.
And I can’t wait to see how he drinks his double-martini!
Great characters.
